![A 3-day Paris weekend for two](https://wonderkit.app/og-heroes/paris-france/3-day-weekend-for-couples.87c7cb04.jpg)

Three days, two of you, and every evening ending somewhere you'd want to watch the light go soft. This is the slow, walkable Paris — Marais arcades, a sculpture garden, the river, a Montmartre rooftop — with one anchor a day, a backup if the weather or your mood turns, and real time to linger over wine and a long walk. No rushing between sights, no kid attractions. Good to know: the Marché des Enfants Rouges and Musée Rodin each close one day a week, so check both before you fix the order of your days.

## Day 1 — The Marais, slow

### Anchor: Place des Vosges

Two coffees, one bench, and the oldest planned square in Paris. Place des Vosges \(1612\) wraps perfectly symmetrical red-brick façades around a covered arcade that runs the whole way round, so a drizzle changes nothing. When the day opens up, follow the lanes spilling out of the square — antique shops, galleries, tiny cafés — and wander hand in hand with no route at all. Give it an easy 1.5–2 hours on foot; there's nothing to book.

### Backup: Le Baron Rouge

If you'd rather drink than queue for lunch, hop east toward Bastille to Le Baron Rouge, a throwback neighborhood wine bar where the wine comes straight from giant barrels and locals stand elbow to elbow. No reservations, a few standing tables, lovely in the late afternoon. From roughly autumn through spring, oysters are shucked out front.

### Eat & rest

Lunch is ten minutes north at the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the city's oldest covered market \(1628\): each pick a different stall and share, perched or standing. Beat the midday rush for a seat. Keep dinner late and simple — walk the Marais until a small, wine-forward bistro looks right.

## Day 2 — A garden, then the river

### Anchor: Musée Rodin

The Thinker, sitting among the roses. Musée Rodin is one of central Paris's most peaceful corners: a mansion ringed by three hectares of rose gardens, a pond and hedged lawns, with The Gates of Hell set among the flowerbeds too. Take as much or as little of the indoor collection as you like — the garden alone, with a café in its midst, is the romantic draw. Allow a relaxed 1.5–2 hours.

### Backup: Musée de l'Orangerie

If your feet or the sky give out, swap the river walk for Musée de l'Orangerie in the Tuileries, near Place de la Concorde: two oval rooms wrap you in Monet's Water Lilies under diffused natural light. It's small, quiet and done in under an hour — a short walk or one Métro hop from Rodin.

### Eat & rest

Afterwards, walk down to the Seine and follow the quays east to Île Saint-Louis, the small stone-lined island behind Notre-Dame. If Berthillon is open \(it shutters for part of the summer\), share a cone on a bench by the water. Then cross back to the Left Bank for an early-evening glass — you've earned the bench time.

## Day 3 — Montmartre & a sunset

### Anchor: Montmartre

Finish the weekend seven floors above Paris as the sky goes pink. Spend the late afternoon climbing Montmartre's lanes — the village-like streets behind the basilica, small squares, long views opening between buildings — and end at the Terrass'' Hotel rooftop bar, whose open western panorama runs to the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides and the Grand Palais. Non-guests are welcome and there are no reservations: arrive a little before sunset, outside the 7–8:30pm crush, to claim a spot.

### Backup: Cœur Sacré

If the Terrass'' is full, or you'd rather stay at the foot of the basilica, Cœur Sacré is a rooftop bar-restaurant at the top of the Montmartre funicular with a fine cocktail and wine list. It's a few minutes' walk away, so the evening carries on without leaving the hill.

### Eat & rest

Make a small plan for the last dinner. Montmartre has plenty of bistros, but the low-key wine-and-seafood night worth crossing town for is Clamato in the 11th \(below\).

## Rainy-day & heat-of-the-day indoor backups

Quiet, romantic, and good in any weather:

- Sainte-Chapelle — a 13th-century Gothic chapel walled almost entirely in stained glass. Overcast light makes every window glow evenly, so a rainy day may be the best day to go. Allow 45 minutes to an hour.
- Musée Rodin's mansion and the Orangerie — when the garden is washed out, Rodin's rooms hold the headline sculptures, dry and uncrowded, and the Orangerie's Water Lilies fill a hushed hour.

## Where to eat & drink

Two more tables worth building a night around:

- Clamato \(11th\) — the no-reservations seafood bar from the Septime team: pristine raw fish, oysters and a serious natural-wine list. Wait for a table over a glass at its tiny sibling, Septime La Cave.
- Bouillon Chartier \(Grands Boulevards\) — a vast, mirrored Belle Époque dining room serving classic French dishes. No reservations and a line, but it's proper old Paris for one of your nights.
- Before you go, settle the few fixed points together — which night is Clamato, which evening gets the rooftop sunset, which day Rodin — and let the Marais and the river float around them.
